About this deal

New for 2008 is a vegetable planter and a vegetable compost which appear to be a mixture of wood and coir, as far as I can tell. The growing bag has been re-named, I think, as a tomato growing bag.

New Horizon is a naturally peat-free formulation. It is specially created to be the perfect compost for all plants by providing triple the goodness. If you’re looking to grow vegetables in a container or pot, make sure you choose one large enough for the plants once fully grown, so that they won’t become over-crowded. West+ creates the optimum structure and air spaces in the compost to deliver the very best root growth. If you'd like more than 10 bags of compost please call our Customer Service team who can arrange for a bespoke competitive quote on 01480 774555 (standard network charges apply)

Until now gardeners had to choose between being the best gardeners they could using a peat based compost or being eco-friendly using an inferior peat free offering. But now gardeners have no need to compromise any longer with New Horizon Peat Free Compost, from Westland. I am well aware that I could easily be watering less, and the weather is different, so do take that into account - I can't provide a controlled experiment! A perfect blend of Biofibre, West+ formulation and Coir+ to stimulate instant plant energy, let roots and leaves thrive and sustain nutrients for longer New Horizon All Vegetable Compost can be used all year round from January to December. We recommend using the product in a well-ventilated place and avoid breathing in dust. Always wear gloves when gardening and wash hands after use. I have been using J Arthur Bowers New Horizon compost range since it first appeared. It is organic and peat free, based largely on composted wood waste. I have managed to grow everything I need in it fairly successfully and it is my first choice having tried, as far as I know, all available peat-free organic composts. No, there aren't very many

How to Guide

Our unique wood fibre West+ creates the optimum structure and air spaces in the compost. Hence it delivers the very best root growth possible. Hold seedlings carefully to avoid damage and gently tease the roots from the compost. Space seedlings out and remember to water regularly.
