About this deal

I love that he dedicates so much to his wife Paris and their marriage is to be admired as they’ve gone through a huge amount in a short space of time. The definite article sounds more definitive, but in reality it’s more of the same – more braggadocio, more humility, more professions of love for his wife and family, more descriptions of his mental health, more threats to retire, more talking up potential fights of the future. He felt he had Klitschko’s number and that as the fresher, hungrier man boxing history meant there would be a forceable changing of the guard. I wasn't sure whether what I was going through was a phase of melancholy or full fledged depression but whatever it was, I knew it was eating me alive and I needed to think of ways to move on from this feeling and be cheerful again.

Tommy Fury, Tyson's brother, said: "In this game, there is levels to it - that's just the top and bottom of it in boxing - and Dillian Whyte just isn't at Tyson's level. He suffered short-term memory loss after the third Wilder encounter, but was lured back to face Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium and his old foe Derek Chisora at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this year. He goes on to Tyson's family life, his beliefs, his failures, his successes, and his will to keep in fighting. The winner of Fury and Whyte would be well-positioned for an undisputed title fight with Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk, who are still expected to have a rematch for the IBF, WBA and WBO belts. Despite this, and thanks to an evening of “clinical precision”, Fury’s hand was raised in Düsseldorf at the end of twelve absorbing, frustrating rounds (“I was a motherfucking bamboozler”) and he reached his unlikely zenith. The all-British collision has been confirmed for the national stadium, where Anthony Joshua previously staged his classic win over Wladimir Klitschko. Going from the highest of highs winning heavyweight championships to the lowest of the low with his depression, this book tells all.

What is left out are the contradictions of the man, the stories that change over time and any serious attempt to clear the air regarding accusations for the use of the substance Nandrolone. This book not only shares his childhood, upbringing, amateur boxing, professional career and behind the scenes that we don't see. I salute you Tyson and thank you for shining awareness of what could be mankind’s greatest nemesis, his own mind. He has written more than 80 books on a wide range of subjects and has contributed to The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph Daily Mail and The New York Times. As an absolutely vocal fighter, Tyson Fury didn't hold from anything to express throughout his career. It was interesting to follow his career and his battle with mental health which many men feel they cannot speak about! However, what we fail to understand is that no matter how rich or poor you are, how successful or unsuccessful you are, depression can hit you at any point in your life and is something which needs to be taken seriously. A very open and honest book about the Gypsy Kings highs and lows, with a specific focus on his mental health.

I really enjoyed learning about his life as a child and always thought the travellers way of life was very interesting and in some ways ideal. His own web site refers to a description of his home as a "book-writing factory" and says, "More than half my books were commissioned by publishers and packagers for a flat fee or for a for a reduced royalty". His most famous victory came in 2015, when he stunned longtime champion Wladimir Klitschko to win the WBA, IBF and WBO world heavyweight titles. A man of faith who describes family as his armour, Fury knows what it’s like when the phone stops ringing, and warns other fighters off collecting entourages (“Let’s meet up in ten years… Then we’ll see if any of these pricks are still hanging around you”), aware of the emptiness that awaits when he hangs up his gloves.

It will be Whyte's first world title opportunity after a long and frustrating wait, while it will be Fury's UK homecoming after emerging unbeaten through a riveting trilogy against Deontay Wilder.Boxing is a very particular kind of sport, with one foot in the entertainment world and another in murky backrooms.
