Provender Nurseries is a wholesale trade only outlet - simply come in, select what you want, pay and go! I intend to use it this winter on flower beds as frost is said to give it the best results (although for me, so far, the results have been awesome).

From free and low-cost options to DIY projects and space-saving hacks, discover the best ways to keep your children entertained and engaged while enjoying the great outdoors. I have dug in sacks and sacks of compost but nothing is working as when it's wet it is waterlogged and when it dries out it's like cement! One thing I would say is be careful of treading on the lawn too much in the first year after it's been laid as it compacts the soil underneath and stops the roots getting strong.

I don't think I was supposed to throw out the clay soil and replace it entirely with clay breaker at the bottom and garden soil at the top.Clay Breaker is ideal for use in all clay-based soils and will break up even the thickest soil to make it easier to work with. box, the clay breaker won't affect the soil ph and can be used as a top dressing on lawns, also in autumn. The combined action of Clay Breaker and winter frosts will give a good soil structure for spring planting. Suitable for all clay-based soils, Clay Breaker will break up the heaviest of soil, making it easier to work. For best results apply at 200 g per square metre (6 oz per square yard) to the lawn in the autumn after spiking or hollow tining.

Gypsum is a soft sulfate mineral composed of calcium sulfate dihydrate, with the chemical formula CaSO4·2H2O. I’ve since used it on flower beds with compost and in a matter of 3 weeks the soil is crumbly and friable. is a well-known and well-loved alternative to traditional farmyard manure which takes a lot of the effort out of spreading manure on the garden.

I realise this thread is a few months old but I wondered if anyone can give me some advice re clay breaker and manure? We had some landscaping work done in our garden and a small digger compacted the turf area, so much so I had to lay a new turf myself. It will break up even the heaviest clay, making soil easier to work, improving drainage and enhancing soil warmth to encourage crops to grow earlier. I have raised beds already but stupidly dug in the clay soil into the bed and added compost which hasn't helped break it up. In our garden you can see where we walked a lot in the 6 months after laying the lawn (we took down and added a new shed so there was lots of tramping back and forth) as the grass doesn't grow as much or as strongly as the other areas (stays short and not as dark green).
